Precautionary Measure Issued After Water Main Break

The City of Bloomington Utilities issued a precautionary boil water advisory for Monroe County on Saturday, August 16, 2024, following a water main break.

The advisory affects all households receiving water from the city of Bloomington. Residents are advised to boil water before drinking, cooking, brushing their teeth, or washing dishes.

The boil order will remain in effect until further notice. The city is working to repair the water main and will provide updates as they become available.

What to Do During a Boil Order

  • Bring water to a full rolling boil for at least one minute before consuming.
  • Boiled water can be used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and washing dishes.
  • Do not use tap water for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or washing dishes.
