Fontaines DC Cancel Istanbul Gig in Solidarity with Palestine

Irish post-punk band Fontaines DC has canceled their upcoming Istanbul concert in solidarity with the Palestinian people. The band was scheduled to play at Zorlu PSM on August 20, but announced the cancellation on social media, citing the ongoing war in Gaza and Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories.
"We must be clear in our opposition to the apartheid system inflicted upon the Palestinian people," the band said in a statement. "We cannot in good conscience play in a country that supports this regime."
Fontaines DC's cancellation follows a growing number of artists boycotting Israel over its treatment of Palestinians. Last month, Lorde canceled her Tel Aviv concert, and other musicians, including Roger Waters and Brian Eno, have also pledged to boycott the country.
The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement has called on artists to boycott Israel until it ends its occupation of Palestinian territories and respects Palestinian human rights.
