Panthers Pull Off Stunning Upset
The Florida Panthers pulled off a stunning upset of the Boston Bruins with a 4-3 overtime victory in Game 7 at TD Garden on Saturday night.
The Bruins, who finished the regular season with an NHL-best 65 wins, were heavily favored to win the series. However, the Panthers refused to go down without a fight.
The Panthers took an early lead in the game, but the Bruins came back to tie it up in the second period. The Panthers then regained the lead in the third period, but the Bruins again tied it up with just 1:04 remaining in regulation.
In overtime, Carter Verhaeghe scored the game-winning goal just 2:28 into the period.
The Panthers' victory is a major upset and it shows that anything is possible in the playoffs.
